a guide to the toxic botanical
Environmentally Unfriendly is a physically and digitally interactive book. The focus is on history and symptoms associated with these poisonous plants, as well as including photography and drawings to show what the plant looks like.

“Be aware of your natural surroundings, no matter how beautiful they may be”
The goal of the project was to create a book that was both digitally and physically interactive. Working with Artivive, all images in the circle frames throughout the book are triggers for an AR component. Alongside this, some pages fold out into bigger images of the plants and there are printed postcards able to be removed from the book to be used for notes or whatever the reader may choose.
All plant drawings were hand-done sketching on textured paper with a thin pencil, I did this to capture a more organic and comforting feeling to the illustrations. I really enjoyed the idea of having my delicate drawings among more saturated and full bleed images of the plants. Once done, the drawings were scanned and taken into Procreate and Photoshop to be edited.
