KOPPLA
For my senior thesis project, I created a THC infused seltzer brand called Koppla. Inspired by current research and modern Swiss design, Koppla is a way for you to stay connected with your friends and colleagues in the way that you prefer.

At social gatherings, especially in a college setting, there can be a pressure to drink to feel included or a feeling left out when remaining sober or, in this case, leaving to smoke. Once leaving the function and re-entering that space there is often times a feeling of disconnect with that environment. CBD and THC are often used for those struggling with anxiety, as well as other mental health issues. It is an organic way to relieve pain, and mental strain, and gain general pleasure. I began to learn about a current shift in people 18-24 today preferring cannabis products over alcohol for a number of reasons. The choice comes with many benefits including no hangover, more control over your experience, and overall comfort with one’s-self and the environment.
The Problem
Name and Logo
Koppla is Swedish for connect and that’s what this brand is about, a way to still connect with friends and others at social gatherings without feeling out of place or pressured.
The Drinks
For this project, I chose to focus on two popular cannabis strains, hybrid and sativa and created 3 flavored drinks for each.
I worked on creating an icon system playing off the same O shape from the logo.
The first system in the left where the shape is split in half for the hybrid drinks and the full circle shapes on the right are the Sativa drinks.
Packaging and Cases
For my six-pack packaging, I chose to design 3 different cases: a variety pack, a beach pack, and a fusion pack. The variety pack is just that, a way to try all 6 of our best selling flavors. The beach pack is inspired from the summer breeze, one of our indica based drinks.

For this brand, the merchandise was designed keeping the target audience in mind. Along with bottle openers, I considered pieces that relate back to “cannabis culture” while still maintaining the playful energy I execute through the brand.
This was a really fun part of the process where I was able to really tap into a different part my creativity and create new and exciting products to really elevate my brand, like the incense and the guitar picks.
The Merch
Social media is something that I felt was very important to my brand. Not only for the target audience but creating a good feed and interesting ads will help gain attention to the page and get the audience more involved.
